Role-specific interview questions What is the difference between anxiety and depression, and how do you diagnose each condition? How do you approach treating patients with comorbid psychiatric and physical illnesses? Can you provide an example of a successful treatment plan for a patient with schizophrenia?

Elicit specific information, including a history of the presenting problems, pertinent medical information, family background, social history, and specific symptom and behavioral patterns. Formally test mental status (see that Chapter). Ask if the patient has any questions or unmentioned concerns.

To answer this question, explain your passion for the career by sharing why you want to work with patients. Example: "I believe psychiatry is a challenging but rewarding field of medicine. Rather than treating a physical disease, I help patients examine their moods and thoughts.
