In the search bar, enter a destination or tap it on the map. Follow the on-screen instructions to help Maps find your location. Tip: Point your phone camera at buildings and signs across the street, instead of trees and people. Once Maps knows where you are, you'll get directions through the camera view on your screen.

Use Incognito mode when you don't want your activity—like the places you search for or navigate to—to be saved to your Google Account. Important: When Incognito mode is on, Maps on that device will not: Save your browsing or search history in your account, or send notifications.

First, check location accuracy: Open Google Maps > check for blue dot, or tap bullseye icon > calibrate. Next, hold device right-side up > move device in a figure-8 motion until beam narrows. If problems persist, make sure you have the newest version of Google Maps installed and restart your device.
